Erithacus rubecula, 28.05.2006

Vilken vecka alltså! Pappaledighetens sista vecka på gång, så huvudsakligen har jag ägnat tid med familjen. Ändå har det blivit några riktiga pärlor denna vecka i bildväg.

Mikä viikko siis! Isyysloman viimeinen viikko on sujunut pääsääntöisesti perheen parissa, ja siinä ohessa on syntynyt pari oikeata kuvahelmeä.

What a week! I have spent the last week of my father-leave (free translation…) mostly doing family things, and I have also had some nice opportunities to catch real golden moments in the nature. First of all, I got some interesting reports of a Eurasian Eagle Owl (lat. Bubo bubo), and of course I had to check it out. For the first time in my life, I saw this magnificent bird, and not all to that – I saw both the male and the female at the same time. No really good photos came up, but that is not always so important – the situation and opportunity to meet this great owl won over al photos! Then on sunday, my godmother called me, and reported a nest of a European Robin -couple (lat. Erithacus rubecula) in their barn, so we headed there late in the sunday evening. I captured some really nice shots of the whole event when the male were flying in food for the one day -old youngsters and the mother. What can I say – it is worth placing all your bets on quality rather than quantity when it comes to photo-sessions out in our magnificent nature. The owl-photo is captured late in saturday evening 27.5.2006 in rather difficult light conditions, and the robins are photographed late in sunday evening 28.5.2006.
